Leeds-based property developer and investor, Eshton Group, has completed the sale of its recently developed roadside scheme on Bridge Street, Castleford to Lightstone Properties for an undisclosed sum.
The development, which secured Costa Coffee and The EV Network as anchor occupiers, features a drive-thru Costa Coffee and eight ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging bays, providing much-needed infrastructure to support growing demand for EV accessibility in the region.
Construction on this tight site began in early 2025, with completion achieved on schedule. The site has now been handed over to Costa Coffee and The EV Network on time and is now open to the public.
Richard Tovey, director at Eshton Group, said:
“We are delighted to have completed the sale of this roadside development in Castleford. The scheme demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality roadside sites that bring leading partners to prime locations while addressing future infrastructure needs, such as EV charging.
“With Costa Coffee and The EV Network secured long term, we are confident this development will prove a valuable asset for the new owners and a welcome addition to the local area.”
The deal reflects Eshton Group’s growing track record in delivering successful roadside and retail developments across Yorkshire and the North. The company remains actively seeking new roadside and retail opportunities as it continues to expand its portfolio.
Richard Syers of specialist roadside property advisors, Alexander James, who acted on behalf of Eshton Group, said:
“We were privileged to have advised Eshton Group on the occupier leasing and the subsequent investment sale of the completed development. Eshton have delivered a quality roadside retail development and the transaction reflects the pent-up demand that persists from roadside retail occupiers and investors alike. The particular appeal of the asset class to investors being that it combines drive-thru retail with sustainable infrastructure and is let to good covenants on long inflation-proofed FRI leases.”
