Ocado Expansion Completes Development at Springwell 27

Leeds-based developer, Eshton, has received planning permission for a 196-space car park at its Springwell 27 scheme at Birstall, Leeds. This will complete the final phase of the business park.

The car park, which has been pre-let to Ocado, is the final phase of development at Springwell 27 which is already home to the on-line grocery retailer’s 10,500 sq ft regional distribution depot.

The creation of the car park will facilitate Ocado’s expansion at the 8-acre business park, following its deal with Morrison’s to distribute its online products, and will link directly to the existing building via an access ramp. Between 120 and 130 new jobs are expected to be generated by Ocado as a result.

In addition to Ocado, Springwell 27 is also occupied by 11 local businesses in 33,000 sq ft of units including Floorbrite, UPVC Maintenance, TC Harrison and DSP Electrical.

Jonathan Chapman, director at Eshton said: “Springwell 27 has been a great success and is a scheme that we are extremely proud to have in our portfolio. Ocado was a prestigious anchor tenant at the business park and it is testament to the quality of the development that they have chosen to expand their operation at the site.”
